CHEERS TO 50 YEARS
OF TOOLS

In 2026, Kincrome celebrates its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of delivering quality tools and equipment to professionals and enthusiasts. Proudly Australian family-owned since 1976.

The Story of the largest Australian Family Owned Tool Business

It started with a dream, a glint in the eye and a drive to get it done...

1971 - 1976:
The Burson Days
The history of KINCROME actually starts before 1976 - With Burson
Burson was formed by Garry Johnson, and Ron Burgoine in 1971 - Ron was just 30 years old. The Business originally distributed a small range of automotive accessories to service stations and automotive outlets in Melbourne - Out the back of their truck.

In the early years the Business grew quickly via expansion of its product range. The name Burson comes from: BURgoine & johnSON.

1976 - 1987:
Kincrome Begins
Kincrome is first registered as a business within Australia.
In the mid-seventies, the first Kincrome-branded products were sold in Australia under the Cozens manufacturing agents. Late in the 1970s the Cozens manufacturing agents contracted Massay Holden to import and distribute Kincrome tools.

At this time Ron Burgoine was stepping away from Burson, and sold his 50% stake. Yet still had a love and passion for the tool industry.

1987 - 1999:
The Early Days
The Kincrome Brand was acquired by Ron Burgoine in 1987 - From there things moved quick.
One container at a time, with a tiny roster of staff - Word of the reliable products and quality service spread, gaining Kincrome a reputation for excellence as the brand expanded across Australia.

At this point the brand was working out of a warehouse in Blackburn, Victoria - Over the next 10 years the brand moved twice as the need for larger spaces for more stock and staff became apparent.

Within this time we changed from a brand selling red tools, to our signature Blue - To differentiate ourselves within the market. We also started selling our well known Torquemaster screwdrivers, launched our 12 month Insurance program against theft on toolboxes and started selling in New Zealand.

2000 - 2010:
Change of the Guard
The year 2000 brought big strategic changes to Kincrome - With Rons sons Justin & Paul taking the reigns.
Fresh leadership brings with it fresh ideas - Ron had built the business for the past 20+ years, It was the job of his sons to prep the brand for the growth that was to come.

With that in mind, strategic building blocks were laid in specific parts of the business. The company once again moved warehouses to its current location in Scoresby. Within the business, internal Industrial Design and engineering teams were established, giving us the capability to truly design and engineer for the Australian market.

2010 - 2026:
Evolving the Workshop
With the pillars of the brand in place, the real work began - creating tools for the Australian trades.
The industrial design team wasted no time making an impact, with Contour, our premium range of tool storage, launching in early 2011. From there, a strong roadmap of releases followed, cementing Kincrome's place within the Australian market.

Just a few innovations Kincrome has brought to market:
- LOK-ON - Able to loosen fasteners that are up to 85% rounded
- Evolution - Our every day trade offering for tool storage.
- Torquemaster - A ground up redesign of the now heritage range.
- Contour - In 2023, 12 years after the original we introduce the next level in tool storage.
- Power Tools - Finally, Tools trusted by Australian Trades for Decades, now powered.
We also officially launched our Tool Tester program. Whilst we have been using Australian trades to test tools for years - We finally cemented this as a pillar of our product development. Allowing us to bring to market tools that make sense for the Australian Trades.

Also brought into the fold are Justin and Paul's sons, Tom, Harry & Jack - Representing the third generation and continuing the strong family tradition within the business.

This decade cemented our love of motorsport and wheeling in all it's forms. We launched Kincrome Racing with the Australian legends of dirt - The Evans family. This leads to a championship win in 2024. We also started a partnership with CDR Yamaha, Australia's most victorious Motocross & Supercross team. As well as getting onboard with a bunch of likeminded youtubers to create Buildwars - A Youtube series where we take a bunch of Australia's best wheelers on the trip of a lifetime. Watched by over 2.5 million people.
