CARE & MAINTENANCE

General Maintenance

General
Kincrome tools are manufactured to quality standards and specifications.

All Kincrome tools undergo a comprehensive corrosion protection process to preserve and prolong the life of your investment, however, without the correct maintenance they are not imperishable.

Tools, like anything, require maintenance. They need to be regularly wiped clean, especially of corrosives such as petrol, solvents, antifreeze, brake fluids and water.

Keeping your tools in a closed tool box will also help protect them from external elements, for example, dust covered tools will rust quicker when the humidity is high or there is moisture in the air as the dust will hold the moisture and potentially have a corrosive effect on metals.

Damaging the corrosion protection on your tools by dropping them, scratching or denting the chrome plating may expose the bare metal and likely accelerate corrosion.

Light surface rust on tools that are used infrequently is not uncommon as the natural oils on your skin and oil’s within the workshop actually help protect the tools.

Light rust should be cleaned from your tools immediately with a clean cloth and a water displacement product such as WD40®.

Kincrome recommends that you wipe your tools clean of all foreign materials after use.

  • Ratchet head should be disassembled, cleaned and soaked in a solvent to remove dust & grime build up- Heavy Use Monthly - Light Use Quarterly.
  • Whilst servicing your ratchet, unsure you check the main drive gear & the pawls for signs of wear or damage.
  • Any worn components must be replaced, contact your Kincrome distributer for a suitable repair kit.

TOOL BOXES & STORAGE

Vehicle Storage Maintenance

Vehicle Storage Tool Boxes are water resistant and are NOT water proof and may be prone to water ingress due to above average and adverse weather conditions or if cleaned with pressure cleaners or high pressure hoses. Vehicle Storage requires regular care and maintenance:

  • Ensure the Tool Box locking latches, handles are securely closed and locked at all times.
  • Regularly maintain and adjust locking mechanism to ensure they close tightly.
  • Regularly lubricate and clean hinges and front/rear of locking mechanism with light oil.
  • Regularly lubricate lock barrels with graphite powder or silicone spray.
  • Regularly inspect rubber weather seal and repair or replace If worn or broken sung quality silicone to attach.
  • Periodically check for leaks and water entry points and use a quality silicone sealant to rectify leaks (check locks, latches, hinges, seals, wields, mounting points).
  • Use quality silicone sealant on all mounting point fasteners and ideally use a rubber mat between the base of the storage item and vehicle to reduce vibration and product fatigue.

The Kincome express warranty does not cover damage to or loss of items stored in any Kincrome storage boxes (such as tool boxes or vehicle storage boxes).
